As I rejoin life after Autodesk University 2011, I can’t help but think back to the great experiences of the past week.
From the start, it was amazing to see the number of participants in the Leadership Forum, which took place prior to the official kick-off of AU. This invite-only event that brought together a select group of industry executives to network and learn more about the state of the industry, the latest technological advances, and how their organizations can take advantage of these developments in the future.
I could not help but notice that there wasn’t a single participant not engaged in a conversation. Even more exciting was the fact that those conversations appearing to be forming many new friendships and opening lines of communication and collaboration across organizations and disciplines.
This truly set the trend for the rest of AU as well.
As in years past, the number of sessions and range of topics offered was more than enough to provide something for everyone. But this year I heard more follow-up conversations about how the topics presented might relate to the management of change within organizations – a higher level discussion than in years past.
This focus on change, coupled with the crowd’s great energy, was a sign to me that our industry is most certainly on the rebound.
So until AU 2012, let’s keep the conversations going, the momentum strong and prepare for great things to come in the New Year.
